Our family, Taquelim Gonçalves, has been at the heart of one of the Algarve’s sweetest traditions.
It was more than ninety years ago that, in their home kitchen, Mr. José Francisco Gonçalves and his wife, Mrs. Amélia Taquelim played a decisive role in shaping and popularizing the delicious Dom Rodrigo cake by perfecting the recipe and introducing a distinctive wrapping of bright, colourful paper that became part of its identity.
A delicate creation of fine egg threads, egg yolk cream, almonds, and cinnamon, gently toasted in sugar syrup and perfected over generations.
In the region, and beyond, this beloved delicacy is often affectionately known as "Taquelim's Dom Rodrigo".
Our Morgado de Lagos and Peixe de Amêndoa are equally tempting creations, enduring favourites for those who appreciate
the true taste of Lagos and the Algarve.
